Aug. 15th, 2007 @ 01:35 am About those pics...
Current Mood: tired
LOL! They're off the camera, but our host site is discontinuing the pic hosting so I have to upload them elsewhere. Since it's been over a month, figured I best post an update at least!

Tomorrow is my last night at SnS. I'll miss some of the people there but definitely not the night hours or the work. We're taking a little vacation next week to visit Lansing and Ann Arbor before my teacher inservice starts.

I've been working a little each day since I found out last week what I'll be teaching. Well, kinda found out. So far I'm teaching Algebra I and Pre-Algebra. They're trying to get me a technology class, but no word on that status. So I'm preparing for the classes I know I have and getting a parent letter, rules, interest inventory, etc ready to go. It's actually very complicated to make a curriculum, because there are really a million different ways to do things and I always want to do the best. I just need to relax and realize everything can't be perfect the first time!

Isaac is aleady 6 1/2 months and growing every day. Yesterday's trip to the doctor reports he's in the 90 percentile for height and 50 percentile for weight. So somehow he's a tall skinny kid. How he came from us I do not know! LOL

Alright, I think I can finally sleep now. I had one of those diet pepsi max drinks at work. Yes, it definitely wakes you up!

Jul. 2nd, 2007 @ 09:17 pm Holy Crap... bad daddy!
Dang, I didn't realize it's been eons since I posted pics! He's 5 months now and rolling over! I swear, I will get pictures posted this week. And why do I have time to do that???

Because I have a JOB! Yep, all the interviewing and preparing and near-misses have finally paid off! Tomorrow morning I sign my letter of intent and officially become a part of the Fr em ont High School math department. I realize there are spaces in the school name. That's on purpose, so people searching for the town don't come across my LJ and find my lovely screen name which isn't very teacher appropriate. I guess I may have to start a new blog soon...

So anyways, we are super excited, because it's very close by so we don't have to move far away. I don't know what math I'm teaching yet, but I'm pretty sure I'll teach PHysics, which is fantastic. The community is perfect for us, about the size of Ludington. All in all, a great fit for us!

If you're in town for the 4th we'd love to see you. Amazingly, Danielle and I both have the day off! We're celebrating with Marge's family but would love to see some friends!

I'm a bit behind, I know, but since I finally got some more pictures uploaded I figured I might as well post them. Isaac is now 10 weeks old but the pictures only go up to 7 weeks. He's a wonderful baby! He lets mom and dad get enough sleep, he laughs and smiles a lot too! There's no way to describe the happiness he gives us every day!

Since these pics we got a new swing which he loves to death! Next batch will have some pictures with him in it i'm sure.

Holy Crappin! Says the old man on that snowmobile commercial. That's the first thing that popped in my mind when I saw I haven't updated since October. And yes, I know I still have to upload the Halloween Party pics. I'm working on that! But first things first. This proud daddy must brag about his little boy some more! So I uploaded lots of pics of the little guy for you all to see.

http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/drunk_buzzard/album?.dir=/9d98re2

We were sure Isaac has curly hair, but it straightened out for the time being. We'll just have to wait and see if it comes back or not. I sure hope it does!

Those of you that have children, let me just say you were right. And if you haven't had children yet, understand that every parent is right when they tell you there's nothing like having a baby. I don't recall ever feeling so much emotion. After delivery I stood in the nursery staring at my child and just bawled. Childbirth is an amazing thing!

A big thank you to all the lovely cards, gifts, phone calls, emails, and good ol' encouragement. We're both in the middle of that scared-as-hell stage where you don't know if you're doing anything right. I'm looking forward to being a master diaper changer. :D

Current Mood: cheerful
Yesterday was supposed to be the day my halloween party invites went out. The good news, my invite is ready! The bad news, my printer ran out of ink! ;(

So today I went to buy a printer cartridge and couldn't remember which one I needed! I swear these invited are getting out asap. Printer cartridge tomorrow, I swear!!

Now that my certification tests are out of the way I can be happy again. This coming weekend the graveyard gets set up and the decorations hit the walls. Woo hoo!! I still need to find a costume for TOTing, but I have a costume for the party. Danielle and I are going as a shotgun wedding. It'll be hilarious!!

K, time to get my lesson plans done so I can get caught up and not worry about them the week before the part-tay!

Today is an unexpected yet important day off from school. Monday morning I woke up with severe dizziness, to the point I could barely make it to the bathroom. So today I went to the doctor, during which any body problems were ruled out. That leaves a CAT scan in a few days to see if it's an inner ear problem or something worse, or if it's the stress, etc. Regardless, remember me in your thoughts and prayers, as I'm scared to death what could be wrong with me. :(

In better news, every day I see improvement in myself with the students. The best compliments are from students, especially when they are telling others that I'm doing a good job. I really missed being with my students today, but it's important to find out what the heck is going on.

My certification tests are next weekend. Can't wait to get those out of the way! So this weekend is reserved for lots of studying... and sending out the Halloween party invites!! As soon as I make them, that is...

I know it's been a while, but I have a good reason. Real quick, here's the lowdown.

Last Thursday afternoon I found out I was taking over the class starting Friday. My mentor teacher had to take a leave of absence, and everyone decided I was ready to take over. So since last Friday I've been a full-time, unpaid teacher at LHS. Well, technically I will eventually get sub pay, which is nice!

My experiences have been so many and so detailed I can't possibly list them here. Let's just say even with all the stress and pressure I'm under, I still love my job. So I guess I chose the right field! yay!!

I have to get to sleep. Maybe some day I'll have time to explain how this trimester is going and what I've learned. Or maybe you'll just have to come to the Halloween bash this year and ask me. ;)

Be ready to welcome Isaac J into this world come January! We didn't care what sex the baby was, just wanted to know so we could choose a theme and such. So we're going with a celestial theme (stars and moons and schtuff). It's weird to call the baby "he" instead of "it" but I'm sure I'll get used to it.

Student teaching has been exciting and a great learning experience so far. Friday was especially interesting, as my mentor had a family emergency and left me to teach the last two periods on my own. Yep, after 3 days I took over the class! And you know what? It went great! But only because I was super prepared and knew exactly what to do. Those kids were ready to do nothing but I pushed them through to keep on schedule. I can't say I did some profound teaching or made a kid see the light or anything, but I didn't waste the time away either. I think the admins noticed too, which is always a plus.

Time for bed! It's hard to get used to this early stuff.

Next Thursday (NOT this Thursday) we'll find out if it's a boy or a girl. Danielle and I guess differently, with me sure it's a girl. So what do you all think?

Of course I'll post it here for all to know. Either way, you can bet it will be a little monster! (well, at least in October. :D

The beautiful art display currently occupying the face of the old bowling alley in Ludington is finally getting some recognition!

Those of you away from Ludville will hopefully get a chance to see it before more high-priced condos take its place.

Which we had none of this whole week! Went camping this weekend with H and S and had a supa fun time, even though Hell woulda probably been cooler. But hey, it was fun none the less. And I came home with a sweet Sleepy Hollow shirt! Yes, this will hopefully be an annual excursion...

Bad news is, a massive storm hit Hart on Monday afternoon, taking down several trees, including my neighbors. Right on top of the transformer. So no power for us until today. Well, actually, we had power to Danny's room for some strange reason. So an extension cord kept the fridge running, and the water heater worked. But... no computer!! Aaagggh! Those that know me know this is awful for Buzzard.

But all is better now. Came home from work to see the lights turn on. Just in time for our weekend visit from Sarah and my nephew. I'm taking him to see ECW wrestling in Muskegon for his birthday. Then a night at my house for video games and south park. Should be fun!

Tonight work went really well. Then some assclown teenage girls came in at the last minute. Something told me they would try to steal some booze. So I watched as one girl kept staring down the liquor aisle. I commented to Dave that they would be pretty fucking stupid to try and steal some booze just before closing. We laughed about how stupid that was. I mean, I saw this coming a mile away.

Then one bitch bought a 2-liter to distract me. The other went down the aisle and I saw her take a bottle off the shelf. A few minutes later, she came up and tried to leave. I told her to leave the bottle and she played dumb.

Damn it!! The law says, if we don't see them pocket it, we can't do anything. So the teen walks with the bottle, and I am pissed at myself for not scaring her into giving me the bottle.

Am I pissed that some teenager is drinking? no. Am I pissed I got outsmarted by a couple teenagers? yes. I'm also pissed that this country refuses to let parents teach their kids responsible drinking. And I'm pissed this kid had to steal to get a buzz.

I wanted to slap her in a parent-sorta-way, and tell her to knock it the fuck off!

So anyways, the result was me coming home for one drink and a puff on my cigar. Which turned into many drinks and many cigars. Good thing I have tomorrow off. :D My cats are staring at me like I'm crazy, and I'm trying to stay quiet while my better half sleeps.

If you read this, thanx for putting up with my drunk ass.

Have a good night!

Hurrah!

Classes are finally over! It's been forever since I've actually had any length of time off from class, so this is a welcome treat. But the crazy side of me is already making a long ass list of things to do with my time, because I can never just relax and enjoy rest. Nope, I have to always be doing something. Hence my long list of hobbies that I never have time for.

Yes, Halloween is near the top of my list of things that need attention. Tomorrow I search for styrofoam blocks for my rock-speakers. It's time to fill my cemetery with sounds of the seasons!

Speaking of Halloween, I'm trying to come up with a good theme for the party. It'll be toned down this year because of student teaching/work/preparing for baby. So I'm thinking of a somewhat lighter theme. Maybe finally going with the Comedy Central theme? I promise to do the horror movie theme when Danielle is more game for it.

Oh yea, since I've given up on giving Danielle a chance to post this, I might as well do it. We're having a baby! The due date is January 26th and we're super duper excited!!! So that's #1 on my to-do list, including getting the baby room ready and preparing the house for a little one. I know, I have plenty of time. But I'll be much busier come fall and will have other things to focus on.

So that's our lives in a nutshell. Danielle does a lot of sleeping now, and it's worn off on me. Even on weekends I crash by 11:00 at the absolute latest. Bleck! But, it's good to store up sleep now, cause we won't get any come January.

Holy Schnikies!!

Sorry it's been ages. Seems like we just went to Chicago, but two weeks have passed already. I never even got to post about the trip! Once I get the photos in the online photo album I'll recap. Yes, they are downloaded off the computer at least. :D

Between class and work I have no days off until July, but that's no surprise. My physics class are all you'd expect them to be. Yep, not much. But at least they don't go all summer.

I have to leave for work now. Here's to a happy Memorial Day weekend to all! I'll be at work, so please have some fun for me! :D

I can't believe it! An actual day off of work and school! Woo hoo!!!

I took Danielle's car in for brake repair. Good news, it was less than expected. Bad news, still $400.00. Oh well, at least we know we'll be able to stop now.

Watched Slither last weekend and it rawked! I'll definitely buy that movie when it comes out. It's not scary but is gross and hilarious!! Hopefully I'll have it by Halloween so many of you can see it. It's a fun Halloween movie. :D

Speaking of Halloween, I wish I was rich and could buy this for my display!!

If anyone wants to buy this for me I would love them so.

Happy Easter to those that celebrate it!

Apr. 8th, 2006 @ 02:10 am Updating requires reliving the past...
Current Mood: sleepy
When the past sucks so much! Well, not all of the past, just yesterday. So Wednesday night my nephew comes over. Lots of video game playing and south park watching. Just a good old time. But at 2:15 on Thursday the shit hits the fan. I walk upstairs to put on my work shirt, and the stupid shelves fall off the way for no apparent reason, and smash my aquarium!! So gallons of water are flowing onto my bedroom carpet, I'm swearing up a storm and staring at the gushing water, and my nephew looks at me confusedly because he doesn't notice my house flooding.

To make a long story short, I was 90 minutes late for work, we had to buy a new aquarium (which actually is much prettier than the old one) and I was carpet cleaning until 3:00 am last night. Ugh. So I missed class today because I needed some sleep big time, and the furniture needed to be moved back. Lesson learned: don't put glass under shelves.

In better news, my experience at Otto Middle School with Abby was wonderful. It's amazing what she's doing with these at risk kids. I hope I can be half the teacher she is.

Sunday we take my nephew and Danny to WWE Smackdown at Van Andel. It's the first WWE show for all of us, and first live wrestling show for everyone but Danny. We're all super excited! Tomorrow night we make our signs after I get home from work. Who knows, maybe you'll see us on tv :D

The Hollows and Marge came over tonight for some Scene It fun and drinks. I got a bit toasty on the jaeger bombs but fortunately slowed down a bit before I hit a drunken stupor. I guess I can't hold my drinks in my old age.

Ta-ta!

It's official!!

I had my interview today and it went super-swell. This coming fall I will student teach at Ludington High School with Mr. Jensen. I met the principal and said teacher today. It sounds like they have high expectations, so I hope I can deliver. One more worry off my chest!

Tomorrow we head to Soutgate for a friend's wedding. I've seen my friend a couple times since moving back, but I haven't seen my former co-workers. I hope some of them attend. It's been 4 years! Next weekend I revisit the Tan Clan. It's been 4 years since I've seen those guys too! A nice blast to the past is coming! :D
